Engineering Opportunities
Senior Project Engineer – Software / System
The Software/System Engineer will be responsible for supporting system and software engineering efforts for the company’s projects.
Specific and detailed responsibilities shall include the following:
- Support the software/system development activities for the company’s product line
- Perform integration test engineering duties to verify proper functionality of the product. This may involve modification of existing software testing applications or the development of new applications.
- Use the existing system and software processes in place to support the achievement of major and minor TSO certifications for the company’s products which involve the following: requirements, design, reviews, checklists, integration testing, system V&V activities
- Become highly knowledgeable in the architecture, design and functionality of Cobham’s avionic products
- Reviews and evaluates product request from customer, and formulates conceptual design to meet customer requirements.
- Evaluates product design for conformance to engineering principles, customer requirements, quality standards, and specifications.
- Coordinates design, production, testing, and related activities.
- Consults with project personnel and others to provide technical assistance and information.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Establishing knowledge of the FAA certification process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate must possess a bachelor's degree (B. S.) from a four-year college or university; or a minimum of 4 to 6 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate must have 1 to 3 years of requirements writing, design, test and certification experience in the aviation/avionics field.

- Knowledge of RTCA DO-178B (“Software Considerations In Airborne Systems And Equipment Certification”)
- Experience with DOORs (DOORS is the requirements organization tool that S-TEC uses)

Project Engineer - Hardware
The Engineer will be responsible for performing as part of a team to define, design, support and certify avionic hardware products.
Specific and detailed responsibilities will include the following related to the company’s avionic products:
- Support the creation and modification of the hardware architecture, hardware requirements and hardware design for new and existing products.
- Support production by providing guidance on issues such as obsolescence
- Support Hardware/Software integration testing and assist in flight testing of the company’s products
- Develop Environmental Qualification Test Plans for DO-160 Lab testing
- Oversee DO-160 Environmental Lab testing of company products
- Develop Product Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) for production to verify proper functionality of products
- Write C software to implement developed algorithms that satisfy system requirements
- Interface with the customer and be able to travel to customer sites when necessary
- Be able to document the reliability of a product through the creation of a Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs) document.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year College or university; or three years related experience and/or training in designing, testing and certifying avionic related hardware products; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Capabilities:
- PCB design, Altium or Pads Experience
- Ability to design and understand basic circuitry
- Ability to design and understand low level programming
- Knowledge of DO-160 Environmental Testing
- Understand and write “C" software

Electrical Hardware Engineer (Sustaining)
The qualified candidate will be responsible for performing as part of the Sustaining Engineering team to define, re-design, support and certify existing avionic hardware products
Primary role and responsibility include, but are not limited to the following:

Support the creation and modification of the hardware architecture, hardware requirements and hardware design for existing products.

Support the obsolescence engineering process and collaborate with operations/purchasing to identify solutions.

Provide technical alternatives for and coordinate the solution for material and manufacturing issues including compatibility with existing production designs.

Assist in the development of software and instructions for automated equipment.
-
Investigate production issues with existing designs during the manufacturing process.
-
Support Hardware/Software integration testing and assist in flight testing of the company’s products

Develop Product Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) for production to verify proper functionality of products

Interface with the customer and be able to travel to customer sites when necessary
The candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in designing, testing and certifying avionic related hardware products.

Manufacturing Engineer
Qualified applicant will function as a manufacturing problem solver by coordinating solutions of manufacturing problems through all affected areas. Advise design engineering and others on questions of producibility and the application of new technologies.
- Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies in the factory and their impact on production methods.
- Design tooling, fab aids, jigs and fixtures for assembly.
- Assist manufacturing management on such items as interchangeability, accountability, tool policy, manufacturing plan, manufacturing test plan, process control and documentation.
- Develop method and operation sequences for fabrication and assembly.
- Review and coordinate the documentation of manufacturing methods and processes.
- Assist in the development of assembly guides, procedures and illustrations.
- Investigate manufacturing problems that are encountered during the manufacture of parts and assemblies.
- Provide technical alternatives for and coordinate the solution with others on problems with tooling, inspection, engineering, material and manufacturing.
- May be required to assist in the development of software and instructions for automated equipment.
- Review new designs and recommend modifications to optimize productivity and producibility.
- Verify bills of material.
- Other tasks as assigned by supervision.
Required Capabilities

B.S. Degree Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience.

Five years experience in commercial or military aviation electronics.

Interpretation of engineering drawings, parts lists, component specifications, wiring lists and schematics.

Ability to support several concurrent tasks on a routine basis.

Experienced in MS Word, Excel, Project and AutoCad applications.
Procurement Opportunities
Supply Chain Manager
Leads, facilitates, and oversees the development of the company’s supply chain management process based on policies, procedures, and objectives. Directly supervise the procurement, shipping / receiving, and inventory management functions.
- Able to assist with the development of strategic objectives and transform them into specific operating tasks.
- Provide supply chain leadership to ensure company objectives are met relative to quality, cost, delivery and inventory objectives.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of the Supply Chain Management plan.
- Develop departmental budget and monitor performance.
- Drive the standardization of the procurement process to reduce acquisition costs and cycle time.
- Provide leadership in the development and execution of sourcing strategies – negotiation and supplier selection.
- Implement use of supplier performance reporting.
- Provide guidance and support in implementation of make / buy decisions.
- Lead interaction between suppliers, engineering and manufacturing to reduce total manufacturing cost.

- Develop, implement and maintain inventory cycle counting procedures. Responsible for the execution of the annual physical inventory.
- Identify and implement required improvements to maintain 99.5% inventory accuracy.
- Review and update company data base as required, including but not limited to critical Stockroom / Inventory data and information.
- Ensure the execution of the shipment plan.
- Support customer lead time requirements.
- Support and implement measures to ensure a 95% on time customer order line delivery performance is maintained.
- Support all profit plan initiatives.
- Successfully implementing / completing all Materials Department Improvement Initiatives.
Required Capabilities:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related discipline.

Minimum of 5 to 10 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing company.

Experience managing professionals including the ability to lead a team in a coordinated effort within a cross functional organization.

Ability to take ownership for strategic planning within the supply chain organization and coupled this with analytical and execution skills.

Working knowledge of an ERP system including configuration, manufacturing processes and systems.
